Muros and the sea
Muros grew into a town during the Middle Ages around fishing activities and maritime transport. The sea has been its source of resources and activity throughout the centuries. Today it forms a unique historical ensemble in which the footprints of the different generations are visible, shaping a village that has changed over time, but has always been built around its harbour and at the service of maritime activity - be it the fishermen’s houses or specific buildings for processing seafood, fish-salting and canning.
Despite the loss of much of this immense heritage, Muros continues to live mainly on the sea and the natural heritage of its coast.
The Historical Ensemble bequeathed by our ancestors was built with the resources drawn from the sea with the toil of fishermen in their boats. The Traditional Marina has, therefore, been at the heart of its identity.
